Take Away Tips from T. Swift (in concert!)
T. Swift haters, go elsewhere. I am officially hooked. My sister and I went to see sweet Tay on Saturday night and I thought my heart was going to burst out of my chest. Forget the awkward girl from 2009-2012 music videos -- that's how I'd always thought of her. This chick is bad AF these days. Why? Because she LOVES HER LIFE and from that she is UBER confident. YASS! GO GIRL. I can't think of a better artist, female, entrepreneur, happy-ness guru, lover of life, explorer of possibilities to have as a role model. Here are my take-aways from T. Swift in concert...
KEEP A KICK ASS SQUAD
After T. Swift's Bad Blood video was released, we all realized that Taylor takes her #SQUAD seriously. Rull seriously. While Taylor changed ensembles during her concert, she had a reel of her buddies in NYC playing, talking about how much fun they have together and what a supportive team they have in one another. Around the age of 20 I figured out something similar: you can't pay for friends or make friends love you for the way you look. When you meet a chick you connect with on a soul-level, DO NOT LET HER GO. No matter how big you get, there is always, always more room at the top. Bring your girls on your journey to success (whatever that means to you.) No excuses.
FRINGE + SPARKLE = MAGIC
Every day that we get to be on this earth and offer love to others is effing awesome, ya'll. Come on. You know that breath you just took? It was a miracle. You are star. You shine. If it resonates with you to dress like a rockstar, DO IT. I don't care if you're under a million lights singing to 56,000 people at the Georgia Dome or you're sitting in the office in a cubicle. CHOOSE TO SHINE. Also, wearing sequins and swinging around in fringe-y-ness is too fun to pass up...
GIVE 'EM SOME 'TUDE
I'm embarrassed to say that I often avert my eyes and stare at the ground when I feel like I'm getting unwanted attention. The number of Taylor Swift threw us this (see pic above) "YEAH I DID IT" smirk was SMASHING. Taylor is totally PROUD of who she has created herself to be as an artist, as a performer and as a WOMAN. I found myself staring back into the big screen at her saucy grin and thinking "Hells yes, lady friend. You tell 'em." You have nothing to be ashamed of. Show 'em what you workin' with. Lipstick helps.
YOU ARE NOT THE OPINION OF OTHERS - T. SWIFT
There is nothing more disturbing than watching a group of "friends," an institution or even parents (try to) wipe the uniqueness from a person. Stand strong. Be yourself. No matter what people say about you, good, bad, beautiful or ugly... you are NOT the opinion of others. Sticks and stones hurt... and so do words. Words create wars even if they are the words we are speaking to ourselves. Choose to speak positively to others and choose to speak positively to and about YOURSELF. You are the sum of what you believe yourself to be.
