#PANTSUITNATION

My mom and I facetime almost every day.  It is one of the simple pleasures and comforts of my every day life.  So much of my entrepreneurial spirit comes from her and I am blessed to have her inspiration!  One day in October she told me that she really needed to weed through one of her closets of clothes.  She brought THIS jumpsuit down and laughed as she walked toward the camera holding it; "I'm about to donate this (hahaha!)... want it?!"

I almost jumped through the screen.  What a BEAUTIFUL set!

On my next trip to South Carolina I grabbed the pantsuit and sported it around.  It weighs about 7lbs all together but I only notice the weight when I'm holding it on a hanger.

Here, I'm wearing it with a pair of BCBG pumps and an EXPRESS silk top. Earrings are an older drop-down style from Stella & Dot.
It's just... glorious.

If you're thinking, I WOULD NEVER EVER WEAR THAT...Think again!  The first time I put it on I told my mom that I would only wear the jacket. She laughed and said, "It's meant to be worn together!!!" But hey, that's not for everyone...

If the idea of a LOUD matching pantsuit intimidates the pants off of you, here are a few ways to break it up but keep it snazzy!

JUST THE PANTS!

COAT: TED BAKER Elethea Short Coat $449
TOP: AQUA Cashmere $96.30 (sale!)
EARRINGS: STELLA & DOT stud pack $39
SKINNY CUFF: STELLA & DOT $34
PUMPS: POUR LA VICTOIRE $275
PURSE: STELLA & DOT crossbody $34 (sale!)

A simple cashmere top with studs and a fab bag are an easy and accessible way to rock this pants, sans jacket.  Wanna pop a little more?  Try the shoes in a bold color!

JUST THE JACKET!

DRESS: TED BAKER $279
EARRINGS: STELLA & DOT $39
OTK BOOTS: STUART WEITZMAN $798
CLUTCH: REISS $255

Whether you wear just the pants or just the jacket of a statement pantsuit like my mom's, the key is to let the statement piece be, well, the statement!  The focal point stays on the embellishment and detail of the garment; everything else should stay sleek and understated with a few "ties" that incorporate colors or textures from the power piece.

Have a crazy awesome vintage tweed jacket with "lots going on" (i.e. buttons, frills, fringe)?  Try it with a pair of skinny jeans and a white blouse. Play up the garment by keeping things neutral; funky shoe optional!
