Changing the styles or shapes of a few of your pieces is an easy way to breathe fresh life into your wardrobe. I am a MASSIVE fan of switching it up from every day “skinny jeans and a black top” which can bore you to tears if you go to this option too often and wide leg pants are a go-to of mine, year-round.

Around about age twenty-three I grew a booty out of no where. Suddenly I wasn’t so, so straight-down (“boy figure”) in shape and I began to gravitate toward wider leg styles that accentuate(d) my waist. I’m still in love with this effortless look and find myself wearing wide leg styles more often than I wear traditional skinny jeans.

While many women say they want to branch out, I see said branching out efforts in closets with tags on them all too frequently. If one of your branching-out efforts it to work with wide legged cropped pants, be not afraid! Here’s why and here’s how…

W I D E leg CROPPED pants.

  • Lift with a heel or platform because: “if loose, LIFT!”

  • Pointed toe shoes are a must if you can’t elevate in shoes.

  • Notice that at every point I am ACCENTUATING the waist, even with looser items, I’ve chosen pieces that have a draw string or see-through waist.

  • A super lazy, go-to option if you are happy with your mid section is to pop a bodysuit on and a big earring and call it a day. Don’t overthink it.

  • If you aren’t very busty (I got you girl), create balance the lower half of your body by choosing tops that draw the eye UP. If you’re like *wtf is that?* “drawing the eye UP means: big earrings, v necks or tops that accentuate the shoulders, a bold lip, etc.

A Short Note About Body Type:

If you’re short, just be sure the length of the pant is PERFECT! Play with where the garment hits on your leg and then hem accordingly. Check out my super cute (and super petite!!!) friend Sheyda Mehrara for inspiration and confirmation!

If you’re rounder in the midsection, don’t be discouraged, you can totally wear wide-leg (opening) pants but do look for a style that is more fitted through the thigh area.

Tall ladies: GO FOR IT! Madewell has incredible tall & taller options for their cropped wide leg pants and yes, you can totally rock them!
